Levi's Birthday

Saturday afternoon at Colin and April's was the perfect place for a great first birthday for Levi. Levi is not sure what to make of having to wear shoes. He is doing so well walking almost one week. We consumed sugar and normal birthday party stuff. It was at Colin's I learned about African Kitumu coffee and the Swahili meaning of the word (he'll have to tell you, I don't remember). It was really good.

We reviewed videotape of graduation week antics of an unnamed party you might recognize in the pic below. I can't speak of that. You'll just have to see the video.

A great afternoon. Happy first birthday, Levi.

This is video from my phone. So far it translated with no audio. Stay tuned.

Memorial Day

Monday was spent relaxing with my sister Gail's family. Then we went to El Pinto for a wonderful Mexican lunch with Gail, Chuck, Stacey, Jamie and Ben, then on to my niece Stacey's home to see their remodels. It's always wonderful to be in Albuquerque and in my sister's home enjoying New Mexico style.

More Nostalgic Culinary Excitement

A day full of fun doing the town in Clovis deserves a round of tacos, taquitos and steak fingers for dinner. Well, some might not consider it dining, but to one growing up in Clovis, the Foxy drive in has satisfied many a palate since A.C. Bryant opened his business in the 1950s. I could continue with a most creative discription of the foods there but it wouldn't convey the goodness in each paper basket of short-order delight.

Clovis on a Saturday

Clovis is central eastern New Mexico is a town of about 40 thousand people. It is home to Cannon Air Force Base. The down town area has had varying degrees of success keeping business on Main Street. One very successful business is 2 Shabby Divas which is open 2 days per month. All month long Connie and my niece Laura create and replenish all the wonderfully creative chic merchandise then open the store a couple of days and wow the public. You can find out more about them at 2shabbydivas.com. Laura's husband Bryan, not at all a diva, is an 'acheiva' in the sleep industry. He has High Plains Sleep Disorder Center in Clovis and his website is highplainssleep.com.

We then went down by the old Santa Fe train depot which now houses other company functions. But in years past when train travel was in its hey-day JoElla, her dad and brother met two celebrities there. The story that JoElla's brother Phil wrote to Clovis News Journal is at the bottom of the page.

Leal's for Dinner

Tonight we had Mexican food at Leal's Mexican Restaurant. It's very good food. I will demonstrate:

Be sure to check our family pics on the right side.

Start of our New Mexico Weekend

Lots of open space greeted us on our trek to see my mom in Clovis, New Mexico. Along the way there was not a lot to do except take pics and eat salty snacks. We got to my mom's for a lunch of fish and chips with a ruby-red applesauce. You'll see the lunch crew below; Kendall, Glenda, Mom's sister Gladys, JoElla, and Mom in front. Then we hung around a bit and made it to Sonic in time for Happy Hour. Then it was on to JoElla's sister-in-law Betty's (pic at bottom) home where we stayed the night. Ya'll come, ya hear.

Our Graduation Dinner at Amanda's Fonda

Did You Ever Wonder?

What happens to a camera when it's left at a friend's home overnite. I think the pictures will give you somewhat an idea of the stark reality of a Camera Held Hostage.

Hungry Bear Update

Sherryl Lynn's mom Fran was in town for graduation (this is a pic from the party day, I liked it so well I wanted to use it instead of Hungry Bear pics) and we had promised her a trip to Hungry Bear. Wow, a great day of fellowship. We were joined by Michael's family just a bit after we sat down. His dad John from Florida, brother Randy, and Randy's wife Cheryl from North Carolina are really proud of Michael's accomplishment and his heart toward God. At the same time, Michael has a great godly heritage to boast about.

Randy and Melissa and his parents showed up about half way into our breakfast and took another table in another room saying something about wanting to sleep in. It was another great day at Hungry Bear.

CBC Graduation, Family, and Old Friends

Charis Bible College Colorado held their graduation of the Class of 2008 today at the school. Trey Dickerson had been chosen as the class' representative and delivered a wonderfully inspiring message. Wendell remarked that at least one student "got it". We think he has it too. Congratulations class of 2008.

CBC Promotion Breakfast

The Crown Plaza was the scene for the Class of 2009's promotion to second year. Basil Blaze was chosen to bring the charge to the promoting students. Wendell and Andrew both commended the advancing first-year students for their dedication and charged them to complete what God had brought them here to do.
